Therapy/counseling appointment (50 minutes) - $150.00
If insurance is being used, your co-pay is due at the time of each session. If you choose to pay for your session in full on the day of your appointment, the cost for an intake appointment is reduced to $157.50 and regular sessions are reduced to $135.00.
Payments in the form of cash or check only. Sorry, no credit cards are accepted at this time.
If you have medical insurance, please check your policy carefully and clarify with your insurance company:
- Do you have Mental Health benefits?
- Do you have a deductible and if so, how much of your deductible has been met?
- Are you on a plan year or calendar year?
- How many sessions per year are you allowed?
- Is family therapy covered? Is couples counseling?
- Do you have out-of-network coverage (if applicable) If so, how much is covered?
- Do you have a co-pay or co-insurance and if so, how much is it?
- Do your benefits require a pre-authorization or a recommendation from your primary care physician (PCP)? If a pre-authorization is required, please obtain the number from your insurance company and bring with you on your first visit.
Cash or personal checks are accepted at time of visit if a co-pay applies.
You may or may not have medical insurance benefits to pay for your needs of coverage for therapy. Even if you do have medical insurance benefits, you may choose to pay out-of-pocket.
Benefits of Paying Out-of-Pocket
- Allows you and the therapist to determine your treatment plan, number of visits, type of therapy (such as family or couples)
- Allows you and your therapist to determine your financial/payment arrangement
- More flexibility in choosing the issues to focus on during therapy
- Increased confidentiality - your assessments, diagnoses, and treatment plans are not shared with the insurance company
- Maintain privacy and avoid compulsory diagnoses
- You are not bound by insurance criteria and pre-authorizations which can stop the therapeutic process
- You do not have to meet the criteria of your insurance company mental health diagnosis
- No need to verify the “medical necessity” for your therapy
- No interruption to therapy if insurance plans are stopped and started due employee benefit changes
- No mandatory assessments, evaluations or periodic chart audits (often required by insuranc. companies)
- You, not your insurance provider, will dictate how and when you will be resolving your personal issues
A sliding-fee based on limited income and hardship may be available. This will be discussed and decided at the intake session and based on available spaces. Please contact Dr. Jan if you'd like to discuss this option.
